Personal Transportation Vehicle

The American Chariot is a new personal transportation vehicle designed to increase maneuverability indoors and outdoors at correctional facilities and other locations. The police and security chariot was designed with five benchmarks in mind: project authority, respond quickly, be visible, maintain the advantage and build rapport with the community.

Chariot users stand on a platform behind a waist-high shield while operating the three-wheel vehicle. A throttle allows acceleration up to about 20 m.p.h. and a hand brake allows for both abrupt and gradual stops. The chariot is equipped with a single headlight, blinkers, and an emergency strobe light. The vehicle also has a loud horn.

The Chariot’s single front wheel allows operators to make sharp turns and maneuver in tight spaces, such as jail and prison corridors.

Officials at Coleman Federal Correctional Complex, which covers more than 1,600 acres in central Florida, recently brought the chariot to the facility and realized that it brings greater efficiencies to daily operations, particularly during night head counts.

American Chariot is a GSA Advantage supplier.
