Conmed Secures $5 Million Washington Healthcare Deal

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. — Kitsap County officials announced a five-year, $4.9 million medical-service agreement with Maryland-based Conmed Healthcare Management.


Under the deal, Conmed will provide full medical services for the 510-inmate county jail, including medical, mental health, dental and specialty services, plus related administrative support.


The parties agreed to an initial three-year deal that started in September. The agreement is renewable in one-year increments for an additional two years, officials say.


The second most populous county in Washington , Kitsap is located west of Seattle . It is the second county in the state to contract with Conmed for healthcare services.


In other news, Conmed announced a $10 million medical-service agreement with Wicomico County in Maryland.


The healthcare-management firm will provide physician, nursing and associated health services, and administrative support for an initial period of 33 months, with the deal renewable thereafter for three two-year increments, officials say.


Wicomico is the 16th county in Maryland to contract with Conmed for jail healthcare services, officials say.
