Countdown to Greenbuild 2010

CHICAGO — Retired General Colin Powell will deliver the keynote address at this year’s Greenbuild, held in Chicago from Nov. 16-18.

Greenbuild 2010 will feature a number of renewable energy and green building gurus, including U.S. Secretary for Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan and Paul Hawken, author of The Ecology of Commerce: A Declaration of Sustainability, who together will deliver the closing plenary.

 
Confirmed speakers for Greenbuild’s Master Series include Geoffrey Canada, president and CEO of the Harlem Children’s Zone, and Arlene Blum, founder and executive director of the Green Science Policy Institute. Other speakers will include groSolar CEO Jeff Wolfe; Tom Quinn, VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Lunera Lighting; Ron Steen, VP of Business Development for Xicato; and Robi Robichaud of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
 
Greenbuild 2010 will also encompass the Green Jobs Summit and Green Jobs Fair. Manuel Flores, acting chairman of the Illinois Commerce Commission, will give the closing plenary speech at this year’s Green Jobs Summit.
 
“Green jobs not only play a key role in helping to green America’s building stock, they will also help rebuild the economy, locally and on a national scale,” Flores said in a recent interview. “I’m eager to be a part of the constructive conversation at the Green Jobs Summit.”
