Bids Sought for $200 Million Pennsylvania Prison

GERMAN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Bids are being solicited for a new $200-million correctional facility in German Township by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.

Phase I of the design-build project will consist of approximately 2,000 beds for the Level 3 medium security prison. It will be specifically designed as a series of buildings that will provide beds in a combination of single and double cells in the housing buildings, and special handling cells within the medical suite of the central support building. Increased staffing efficiency and heightened security operations are also integral parts of the project.

The construction manager is Hill International of Philadelphia. The deadline for bids is Nov. 19.
