The Prisons & Correctional Facilities Summit is Fast Approaching

WASHINGTON — The Institute for Defense & Government Advancement (IDGA) Prisons & Correctional Facilities Summit on Dec. 3-5, 2012, in Alexandria, Va., will showcase high-level government and private correctional executives, capability requirements and acquisition priorities for 2013 and beyond.

The United States incarcerates more people than any other country in the world. There are approximately 117 federal prisons, 1,200 state prisons, and 3,750 local detention/jail facilities in the U.S. Over 400,000 correctional professionals exist with an inmate population of 2.3 million on any given day. With new admissions, releases and transfers, almost 11 million inmates spend time in a correctional facility on an annual basis.

Due to raising challenges in the fields of overcrowding, technology needs and privatization, IDGA has organized this event. A maximum of 100 high-end individuals from both, the government and correctional industry, will be gathering. Together with MTC, CEC and GEO Group, IDGA will highlight key topics such as:

• What security solutions are needed to make overcrowded prisons safer?
• How to develop, review, coordinate, and execute acquisition management plans
• How to choose the right contractors?
