The Kentucky Department of Corrections has named Olivia Newsome as the new assistant supervisor of the department’s 11th District in Prestonburg. Newsome began her corrections career in 2005 as a substance abuse program counselor at the Otter Creek Correctional Facility in Wheelwright, and was later hired by the Division of Probation and Parole as an officer in the District 11 satellite office. She is also a district safety officer and is involved in re-entry efforts as a facilitator of both the EPICS and New Beginnings programs. Newsome is a 2004 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in adult corrections and juvenile justice.
