Heath White

The Western States Sheriffs’ Association has named Sheriff Heath White of Torrance County, N.M., Sheriff of the Year. White received the award at the organization’s annual conference in February. He is a graduate of the Albuquerque Police Academy, and served the Albuquerque Police Department for four years. He was later named sergeant and undersheriff for Torrance County. White was elected as sheriff in 2011 and currently leads an eight-deputy department. He has also serves as a self-defense instructor and as a member of the Juvenile Detention Committee. Sheriff White was also named the New Mexico Sheriffs’ Association’s Sheriff of the Year in 2013.
