Scott Bowers has been named president and chief operating officer of Corizon, which provides health care services to prisons and other correctional facilities. As President and COO, Bowers will be responsible for building a robust business intelligence function to ensure transparency and accountability, as well as leading key management personnel. Bowers, who will begin his new role on Aug. 4, was previously president and CEO of United Healthcare Community Plan of Tennessee. His previous positions include president and CEO, United Healthcare of the Mid-Atlantic; president and CEO, Unison Health Plan of Ohio; and executive director, Harmony Health Plan of Illinois. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Princeton University and his M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
