Christopher Railey

The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Interim Commissioner Timothy C. Ward recently announced the reassignment of Christopher Railey to deputy warden of security at Lee State Prison (SP). As deputy warden of security, Railey will be responsible for supervising and managing approximately 123 security staff members and 762 medium security male offenders.

Railey joined GDC in 1992 as a correctional officer at Telfair SP. During his tenure with the department, Railey has served in a variety of roles, including correctional officer, associate counselor, counselor, senior counselor, chief counselor, deputy warden of care and treatment, deputy warden of security and assistant superintendent.  In 2009, he was promoted to superintendent at Southwest Probation Detention Center (PDC).  Upon the closure of that facility in 2010, he was reassigned to Albany Transitional Center (TC) as assistant superintendent and in 2016, he was promoted to superintendent at Albany TC. Railey was later reassigned to Lee SP as the special assistant to the warden.

Railey has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Pre-Command College, the Correctional Leadership Institute and Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment training.
