New Mexico Prison Closure to Impact 300 Workers

MILAN, N.M. — The upcoming closure of the Cibola County Correctional Center in Milan is set to relocate approximately 1,200 inmates to other facilities and leave some 300 employees without work. The facility, which is run by the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) of Nashville, Tenn., is scheduled to close in late September.

Charlotte County Selects Builder for Courthouse Project

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Va. — In a July 12 meeting, members of the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors approved amended plans for construction of the county’s new courthouse, and awarded a nearly $11.5 million construction contract. The board selected Blair Construction of Gretna, Va., to build the new two-story courthouse, which will span approximately 28,000 square feet and include a basement level. The project’s total cost is estimated at $13.9 million.

Arizona DOC to Purchase Kingman Facility

GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. — Arizona Department of Corrections (DOC) officials received approval from a legislative committee in June to purchase the Arizona State Prison-Kingman, located in Golden Valley, from GEO Group of Boca Raton, Fla., for upwards of $137 million. GEO Group has a contract to operate the facility through 2023.
