Georgia Detention Facility Awarded LEED Certification
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — The new Douglas County Adult Detention and Law Enforcement Center has recently earned LEED certification. Gary Retel at HOK Architects of Atlanta presented the honor to Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller earlier this fall.
Ga. Courthouse Wins LEED Gold
SPRINGFIELD. Ga. — Effingham County’s historical courthouse has been designated LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is the first building in the county and the first renovated courthouse in the state to achieve the designation.
The 1908 courthouse was rededicated last November after a $3.5 million restoration project by the design team of J.T. Turner Construction Co.

N.Y. DOC Pharmacy Could Save Taxpayers Millions
ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. — The New York Department of Corrections’ new automated central pharmacy is on schedule to be completed next spring and DOC officials predict it will save taxpayers $1.5 million a year.
Construction is nearing completion on the 60,500-square-foot building at the Mid-State Correctional facility in Marcy, which will contain a registered pharmacy with automated dispensing equipment.
