Stephen A. Carter, AICP , of Carter Goble Lee was elected treasurer of the International Corrections and Prisons Association at the 8th annual general meeting and conference. Carter is a founding Member of the ICPA, and has served on the board of directors since its inception in 1998. He is a principal and chairman of Carter Goble Lee and has served the worldwide justice and correctional community as a consultant since 1974.

Robert T. Goble, AICP , of Carter Goble Lee, was honored as the first recipient of the award for Outstanding Contribution to the International Corrections and Prisons Association. Goble serves as co-chair of the ICPA annual conference program committee and as a member of the committee on training and development. He received the award for authoring the "Correctional Facilities Needs Assessment and Master Planning Manual — A Fast-track Guide for Officials in Developing Nations.” Goble has been involved in justice and correctional consulting as a principal of Carter Goble Lee since 1975.

DLR Group of Omaha, Neb., announced eight new principals. They are Jon P. Anderson, RA, of Sacramento, Calif.; Donald L. Barnum, AIA, and Rodney V. Oathout, PE, LEED-AP, of Overland Park, Kan.; Lana J. Bayless, PE, of Omaha, Neb.; Stephen J. Cavanaugh, AIA, LEED-AP, of Chicago; James R. Conley, AIA, and Jason P. Wandersee, AIA, LEED-AP, of Portland, Ore.; and Brett A. Hobza, AIA of Phoenix.

As part of the recent round of promotions, DLR Group also announced 19 new senior associates and 52 new associates.

Philadelphia-based Aramark Correctional Services announced several promotions within its state systems’ organization. Tracy Tomkiewicz was promoted to vice president of operations for Indiana and Kentucky. He previously led the start-up of Indiana state operations in 2005. Vince Phipps was promoted to district manager for Indiana and Mike Maltese is district manager for Kentucky. Both Phipps and Maltese will report to Tomkiewicz. George Vaughn was promoted to vice president of operations for Kansas and New Mexico. He brings more than 29 years of food service experience to the position. Don Hurrell accepted the position of regional vice president for the central region. Formerly, he worked for Wendy’s International, where he was responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of company and franchise restaurant operations. Hugo Guerra was appointed regional vice president for the western region. He previously worked as an area manager at Quakers Oats Beverage.

Aramark Correctional Services provides food service for more than 550 correctional facilities in North America.

Brad Aronson was hired as vice president/project director for Vanir Construction Management’s northern California projects. Aronson started his career with the company as a student trainee in 1987 and was later promoted to construction manager before relocating to a different program management firm in California, where he served as president/owner.

GeoEnvironmental Inc. of Norwood, Mass., hired Ken Hulik as an associate principal. In his new role, Hulik will focus on industrial hygiene, toxicology, environmental compliance and management systems. His experience includes a 26-year career with General Motors where he served as the director of global health and safety.

Patrick Mays, AIA, joined Newton, Mass.-based Graphisoft as vice president and general manager. He will work with a network of resellers and consultants that implements model-based design solutions. Mays brings more than 25 years of experience in design, construction and development of manufactured building systems to the position. He has extensive knowledge of construction administration and has been a licensed architect in California for more than 15 years. Graphisoft develops software solutions and provides professional services for the design, marketing, management and maintenance of buildings.

William Koster was named principal at MVE & Partners, a national architecture, planning and interior design firm with offices in California and Hawaii. Koster recently worked on a new police training facility in San Pedro, Calif., that is aiming for LEED gold certification

Pevac America, a Winnipeg, Canada-based manufacturer of security gates, announced the appointment of John Gallagher as national sales manager and sales representative for the Northeast. The company also appointed the following sales representatives: John Aiello, Southeast; Andy Barker, Midwest; Chris Mayer, South; Brendan Burns, Southwest; Mike Kanche, Southwest; John Bradley, West; Michael Murray, California; Vicki Mayes, Southwest; Dean Peterson, Northwest; and Marty McClain, New York.

Steve Braun, of Braun Sales Associates in Freeland, Md., was assigned to represent Enviro Solutions in Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. Braun brings 30 years of industry experience with him and is a strong advocate for green cleaning. Enviro Solutions offers a full line of certified green products and is an ISO-9001 certified company.

Christian Nauman was appointed director of strategic accounts at Pittsburgh-based BEA Inc. He will focus on the company’s relationships with key corporate accounts. Prior to his new position, Nauman served as account manager and operations manager with W.W. Grainger. BEA Inc. is a global provider of automatic door sensoring technology for pedestrian and industrial doors.

Firestone Building Products Company appointed Greg Hausz national sales manager. He will be responsible for domestic trade within the United States and will work with regional managers to meet the needs of national and regional customers. Hausz has been with the company for 19 years and was previously regional business manager for the mid-states region. In addition, Firestone appointed Chris Mincey regional business manager. He will oversee sales representatives who serve commercial roofing contractors, owners and specifiers in the mid-states region. For two years prior, he served the company’s strategic account executive.

ASSOCIATIONS

The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractor’s National Association, an international trade association representing 4,500 contributing contractor firms, elected six members to its board of directors. Serving four-year terms are: Rob Biedermann of JB Henderson Construction Company Inc., Albuquerque, N.M.; Tony Miele of Allied Blower & Sheet Metal Ltd., Surrey, B.C., Canada; James Rosier of Equal Air Balance Company Inc., Orange, Calif.; Thomas Szymczak of SSM Industries Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Robert Zahner of A. Zahner Company, Kansas City, Mo. Serving a one-year term is Joseph Lansdell of Poynter Sheet Metal Inc., Bloomington, Ind.
