Happy New Year!

Getting back to the grind after the holiday season is a slow process for some, especially if there is a persistent problem with no solution in sight. Take, for example, one of the stickier issues in the corrections industry: over-crowding and its sidekick, recidivism.

In Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties in Maine, officials were brought together with some help from Pulitzer/Bogard & Associates – which they had both independently hired – and convinced that combining efforts for a regional jail was a definite win-win situation.

However, it wasn’t an easy solution. In addition to the rigors of the design and construciton procees, the project required political alliances and the creation of a new operations plan the pooled the resources of both counties. Read all about it in our Facility of the Month.
