Tindall Expands Virginia Precast Concrete Plant

DINWIDDIE, Va. — Tindall Corp. is investing $12 million in the expansion of its precast concrete plant here to increase production.

Tindall, which designs, manufactures and installs precast and prestressed concrete products in several markets, estimates the capital expansion of the Dinwiddie plant will help the company’s Virginia division increase production output and sales by 50 percent in 2009.

The 120,000-square-foot Dinwiddie plant, which is located about 25 miles south of Richmond, houses 12 casting beds that vary in length from 150 feet to 500 feet, and produces more than 40 units of 45,000-pound precast concrete per day. The expansion project will add three new buildings, including a steel fabrication facility.

Headquartered in Spartanburg, S.C., the company opened the Dinwiddie plant in 1988 to service a Virginia Department of Corrections contract for the $17 million Greensville Correctional Center.
