Facility of the Year
The Facility of the Year Award recognizes a standout corrections or justice facility that represents the highest standards of planning, design and construction.
Eligibility
Projects must have been featured as a Facilty of the Month in Correctional News magazine during 2026.
Selection Process
Nominees will be voted on by Correctional News readers according to the following criteria:
- Design and Planning Excellence: Integration of operational efficiency, security requirements and human-centered design principles
- Innovation and Forward-Thinking Solutions: Implementation of new technologies, delivery strategies or programmatic approaches that advance the field
- Construction Quality and Performance: Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding project benchmarks for schedule, budget and quality
- Operational Effectiveness: Evidence that the facility supports staff performance, safety and improved outcomes for occupants
- Community and System Impact: Contribution to broader justice system goals, including rehabilitation, reentry and community integration
How to Nominate
The voting period will open after the final Facility of the Month project is announced in Correctional News’ Technology issue, available in December. Watch for voting details and announcements.
