Kansas City Sales Tax Vote Clears Path for New Jail, Public Safety Upgrades
Kansas City voters approved a 20-year renewal of the city’s quarter-cent public safety sales tax on April 8, securing funding for a new municipal jail and other key public safety infrastructure after years of uncertainty and logistical hurdles.




Maricopa County, Ariz., is the fourth largest county in the nation — and its rising number of court cases is a testament to that. From 2000 to 2008, the number of criminal cases went from 26,000 to more than 41,000. More than 56,000 criminal cases are expected to be ongoing by 2016.
