Bi-County Jail Breaks Ground in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. — Construction broke ground on the combined jail for Burleigh and Morton counties to be built in southeast Bismarck, and it is slated for completion in January 2017.

BISMARCK, N.D. —Burleigh and Morton county officials voted in favor of the construction agreement needed for the two counties to build a $70 million jail together at a joint county committee meeting last month. It is the first of three contracts the separate commissions must approve to begin construction on the 475-inmate facility in Bismarck.

BISMARCK, N.D. — UBL Design Group, based in Bismarck, in cooperation with New York-based Venture Architects presented design plans for the new combined Burleigh/Morton County jail to commissioners from Burleigh County, Morton County, Bismarck and Mandan in April. The plan showed that the design will cost nearly $70 million for a 476-bed facility.
