Heery Selected for Jail Expansion, Judical Center Project
PALM BEACH, Fla. — Heery International was selected to manage a $266 million jail expansion and renovation program to accommodate the rising inmate population in Palm Beach County.
Starting with West County Detention Center in Bell Glade, the county’s jail capacity will be increased by nearly 1,500 beds.
The Bell Glade center will take on an additional 818 beds, the county’s Stockade facility will take on an extra 480 beds and a day reporting center may also be opened.
The inmate population is estimated at 2,500, and is expected to exceed the county’s 2,858-inmate capacity this year.
In other news, Heery started site preparation work for construction of a $98.4 million, 340,000-square-foot administrative center for Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System in Harrisburg.
The nine-story judicial center, slated for completion in 2008, will house three commonwealth courtrooms, a conference and training center, archives, a library and offices for more than 500 employees.
