Oldcastle Glass to Sell Translucent Business

LOS ANGELES — Oldcastle Glass plans to sell its translucent wall and skylight business to Major Industries, a manufacturer of translucent daylighting products.

Under the terms of the sale, Wausau, Wis.-based Major Industries will assume the backlog of wall and skylight projects from Oldcastle and will provide warranty support for existing installations.

After the sale, Oldcastle Glass Engineered Products plans to focus on providing building envelope products, including custom-engineered curtain wall, storefronts, architectural windows and skylights.

The company will market curtain wall products under a new brand: Oldcastle Glass Skywall.

“Oldcastle Glass Skywall is the brand for our integrated, custom-engineered curtain wall systems to close the building envelope,” says Ted Hathaway, CEO of Oldcastle Glass.
