Many remain skeptical about new jail

KAHULUI – State Depart-ment of Public Safety officials said last week that they hope to begin construction sometime next year on the $235 million first phase of a new multipurpose jail complex to replace the “overcrowded, dilapidated and inefficient” Maui Community Correctional Center.
