Marydell Guevara
Marydell Guevara is the new director of the Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department. Guevara has spent more than 30 years with the department. As facility captain, Guevara was instrumental in implementing and securing accreditation for the Boot Camp Program, and was later promoted to assistant director of custody services. Guevara earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Florida International University (FIU). She also completed Driving Government Performance courses conducted by Harvard University’s JFK School of Government, and Excellence & Ethics in Management at FIU’s Academy for Strategic Management. She has served as a member of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Defensive Tactics Taskforce and as an expert panelist and presenter at the International Prison Reform in Latin America and the Caribbean Conference. She is also an instructor for the National Jail Leadership Academy.
