John Baldwin
Governor Bruce Rauner has announced the nomination of John Baldwin to be the next director of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Baldwin stepped down form being the Iowa Department of Corrections Chief in January after leading the agency for seven years. He has more than 35 years of experience working in the prison system. In his new position, he will oversee around 47,000 inmates compared to the about 8,000 he oversaw in his previous position. The nomination has to be confirmed by the Senate before Baldwin can take the position.
