William Lawhorn

CGL Companies, a leader in justice facility planning, design, program management, and maintenance, has announced the addition of William Lawhorn as Vice President of Justice Services. In his new role, based out of Florida, he will focus on operational planning for local detention and law enforcement facilities, as well as support business development efforts in the Southeast.

Lawhorn brings more than 30 years of experience working in county jails and state correctional systems, specializing in system studies, facility administration, and operational planning and implementation. He has strong technical and operational knowledge of detention system standards, the inner workings of criminal justice systems, and industry best practices.

Lawhorn began his career with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in South Florida, where he would later serve as the Assistant Director. He also served as the Director of Facility Operations managing the Vermont Department of Corrections and Acting Director of the St. Lucie County Jail in South Florida. He served as a Commissioner for the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Session 262), the Southern Police Institute (SPI), and the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) and a technical assistance provider for the National Sheriffs’ Association.
