For correctional facilities, contraband screening technology is more than just equipment. It is a critical component of daily operations, helping protect officers, staff, inmates and visitors while preventing contraband from entering secure environments. When these systems experience downtime, the consequences extend beyond repair costs. Operations can be disrupted, security procedures compromised and already stretched personnel placed under additional pressure.

As screening technologies become more sophisticated, the way they are maintained and supported must evolve as well.

At Secure Technology Value Solutions (STVS), our service model is designed to help customers keep their screening equipment operating reliably, manage ownership costs and protect their investment throughout its operational life. Our approach combines proactive computer health monitoring, preventative maintenance and responsive technical support to identify developing performance issues and address service needs promptly.

Technology supports the personal relationships and hands-on expertise that customers rely on.

Proactive Monitoring and Preventative Maintenance

Traditionally, equipment maintenance has followed a familiar cycle: a system develops a problem, the customer contacts technical support and a technician diagnosis and repairs the issue. While effective response remains essential, this reactive model can create unnecessary downtime and unexpected expenses.

Proactive monitoring adds another layer of support to that service model.

Through SecureView, using NinjaOne remote monitoring and management tools, STVS monitors the health of supported system computers, including CPU utilization, RAM usage, disk capacity, system events and configured alerts. Remote management tools help technicians investigate and address supported computer issues.

This visibility can help technicians recognize resource constraints and investigate developing computer performance issues. For correctional facilities, earlier visibility into supported computer performance issues can help technicians investigate concerns and coordinate service around operational requirements. Combined with preventative maintenance, this approach can help reduce avoidable disruption, while some failures will still require onsite diagnosis and repair.

Prevention Is More Than a Maintenance Schedule

Preventative maintenance has always been a critical part of STVS’s service philosophy. Scheduled inspections remain essential, alongside attention to each facility’s equipment usage and operating conditions.

No two correctional facilities operate exactly alike. Equipment utilization, environmental conditions, staffing and operational demands can vary considerably. A system operating continuously in a high-volume intake environment may have different maintenance requirements than equipment supporting a smaller facility with less frequent use.

Computer health information can complement technicians’ real-world experience and help inform maintenance planning based on how equipment is actually used. Ultimately, preventative maintenance and responsive support help customers plan for service needs, manage operating costs and maintain confidence in their screening equipment.

Rapid Response Still Matters

Starting with its first installment in Ohio, STVS systems now support correctional and law enforcement agencies in 37 states.

Even with the most advanced monitoring and preventative maintenance programs, equipment failures cannot be eliminated entirely.

That is why rapid response will remain a cornerstone of the STVS service commitment.

STVS products include a standard one-year warranty, with all-inclusive warranty and maintenance coverage subject to the applicable customer agreement. The agreement defines covered services, parts, labor, travel, exclusions and coverage periods. Instead of using third parties, service is delivered by in-house, factory-trained technicians who understand the operational realities of correctional facilities.

The first priority is to keep customers’ screening equipment up and running, because the work they do is critical to the safety and security of their facilities. When an issue arises, technicians focus on restoring operation quickly through remote technical support whenever possible.

In 2026 to date, STVS has remotely resolved 44% of completed reactive work orders within two hours of receiving the ticket. That means nearly half of these service issues were resolved quickly without waiting for an onsite visit, helping customers maintain the screening capabilities their officers, staff, and facilities depend on.

When a problem cannot be resolved remotely, the applicable STVS warranty or service agreement guarantees a technician onsite within 48 hours. This commitment reflects an important distinction in STVS’s approach: technology may help us diagnose problems faster, but accountability means being there when customers need us.

As STVS’s service capabilities evolve, the company will continue exploring ways to integrate better diagnostics, improved parts availability and more efficient technician deployment to further reduce response and repair times.

Technology Powered by People

Over the past decade, STVS has grown from installing its first system in Ohio to supporting correctional and law enforcement agencies across 37 states.

That growth has been built on more than equipment sales. It reflects a service-first philosophy grounded in practical experience, long-term relationships and an understanding of the challenges customers face every day.

STVS’s leadership and service teams bring decades of combined experience in corrections, law enforcement, security technology and operational support. We understand that every customer, facility and situation is different. A technology-driven service model must recognize those differences rather than force customers into a one-size-fits-all solution.

Computer health data and configured alerts can flag developing performance issues for investigation. Remote diagnostics help our in-house, factory-trained technicians assess supported issues. Their experience and direct work with facility personnel guide practical service decisions and help address the broader operational needs of each facility.

That personal connection cannot be automated.

The Next Decade of Service

As STVS enters its second decade, our commitment is to invest in the technologies, infrastructure, inventory capabilities and experienced personnel needed to support an expanding customer base.

The goal is to help facilities keep screening equipment available, plan for service costs and get long-term value from a substantial investment through proactive computer health monitoring, preventative maintenance, and responsive technical support.

For correctional facilities, dependable screening equipment is a long-term investment. STVS is committed to supporting that investment with responsive service, preventative maintenance and in-house, factory-trained technicians who help customers manage downtime and keep their operations moving. Our aim is to provide confidence in the equipment and the support behind it throughout its useful life.
