WALHALLA, S.C. — The of Oconee County Council awarded a design contract and construction management-at-risk contract for a new $17 million Detention Center in Walhalla.

Planning Under Way for $10 Million Jail in S.C.

Oconee County will accept sealed proposals for RFQ 10-13, Request for Qualifications for Architectural and Engineering Services for the Oconee County Detention Center construction project, until Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. EST, at which time they will be publicly opened.
Oconee County will also accept sealed proposals for RFQ 10-14, Request for Qualifications for Construction Manager at Risk Services for the Oconee County Detention Center construction project until Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.

Hendrick Construction Lands $6 Million Jail Contract
LAURENS, S.C. — The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office moved ahead with the planned expansion of the county jail as officials awarded the $5.7 million construction contract to Hendrick Construction.
The general contractor, based in Charlotte, N.C., will work in conjunction with architectural firm DA Architects of Summerville, S.C., in expanding the 200-bed capacity of the existing R. Eugene Johnson Detention Center to house an additional 128 inmates.
