ICE to Continue to House Inmates at Eloy After FBOP Departure

ELOY, Ariz. — Corrections Corporation of America has secured a deal that will allow the private-prison operator to continue to house U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees at a 1,500-bed facility.

The facility formerly housed about 500 federal prisoners along with about 800 ICE detainees, but the Federal Bureau of Prisons, citing improved department efficiencies, decided not to renew its contract with CCA.

The agreement was forged under an Inter-Governmental Service Agreement between the City of Eloy and ICE. The deal will allow many prison workers at the facility to keep their jobs.
