While it seems that Andy Warhol’s prediction of 15 minutes of fame for every average Joe is becoming more painfully apparent with each new reality TV show, you’d wouldn’t think that the local town drunk would provide good fodder for a documentary.


But David Sperling would have to disagree. As a 15-year custody officer at the Newport Beach City Jail, he’s seen his fair share of alcoholics come and go. However, one in particular stood out to him and has become the subject of his new film, “Drunk in Public.” Read about it in this month’s feature, Faces in Corrections.
