McCarthy Building Companies Inc., one of the largest building companies in Southern California, appointed Russell Hamilton director of business development at its San Diego office. A 15-year veteran of the construction industry, Hamilton will be responsible for maintaining relationships with clients and generating new business in the San Diego market.

Ronald J. Budzinski, AIA, of the design firm PSA-Dewberry, was elected to the American Correctional Association’s Commission on Accreditation for Corrections for the 2006-2010 term. He will evaluate detention and correctional facilities for physical and operational compliance to ACA standards. Budzinski has served as a leader of the FEMA response team since last year, inspecting criminal justice facilities in the Gulf Coast region.
Montgomery Technology Inc. hired Karen L. Cann as director of technical sales. Cann has more than 20 years of experience in the correctional industry. She started her career as a correctional counselor and has also worked as a unit manager, consultant, superintendent, and regional detention chief.
HDR, a national engineering, architectural and consulting firm located in Springfield, Ill., hired Glen Hogdson as marketing principal. In his new role, Hogdson will expand the company’s client involvement in the state of Illinois and the surrounding areas. He has 30 years of experience in the architecture industry and previously worked as manager of the Illinois Department of Corrections Capital Programs Unit.

Daren Morgan was appointed regional sales and support manager for the Mid-Atlantic states by Aiphone Corporation. He will be responsible for overseeing Aiphone’s representation firm, Security Products Marketing, in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Morgan has more than 20 years of experience in the security industry, working with both distributors and dealers. Aiphone Corporation is a manufacturer of intercom systems.
Sloan Valve Company announced several personnel changes. Christina Nicosia, who formerly managed Sloan’s national account program, is now western regional sales manager. Don Yurkovick was promoted to central regional sales manager. Joe Somerville joined the company as southeast regional sales manager. Steve Connaughton was promoted to product line manager of Programmed Water Technologies and Sloan Monitored Systems. Tod Reveles was named western specification manager/international. Scott Brown was named product manager for the QuickTop manual faucet line.
ASSOCIATIONS
The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials hired Irene Gould as director of marketing and communications. Gould brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, having worked as an illustrator, production manager, agency owner and vice president.

Jim Tilton was named secretary of the California prison system. Tilton was interim secretary for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since April 2006 and has been a state employee since 1976. Previously, he worked in the state Department of Finance and in various positions in the corrections department. He has more than three decades of experience in fiscal and correctional issues.
