D.C. Outsources Prison Maintenance
WASHINGTON — Corrections officials here awarded the maintenance contract for the Central Detention Facility to Georgia-based Carter Goble Lee Engineering.
Valued at more than $1 million, the deal with CGL represents the first prison-maintenance contract awarded to the private sector by the District of Columbia , officials say.
Under the deal, CGL will work to improve maintenance services at the 275,000-square-foot facility and provide planning, architectural, engineering and project-management services.
Eight full-time CGL engineering and trades technicians will provide maintenance services and operations support for the 30-year-old facility.
CGL Engineering provides comprehensive facility maintenance and engineering services in 38 correctional facilities throughout the United States.
