Zahner Hansen Construction Group Formed
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Rick Zahner and Hans Hansen announced details on their newly-formed company, Zahner Hansen Construction Group.
When Zahner and Hansen worked together, as owner and contractor, on the eight month, design-build expansion project at Northwest Detention Center, a private immigration prison located on the tide flats of the Port of Tacoma in Washington, they realized their shared vision to combine strengths in the U.S. correctional market to offer owners a different approach to justice facility construction. Newly-formed Zahner Hansen Construction, based in Brentwood, Tenn., is targeting correctional projects nationwide.
“It is an owner-relationship based company focused on projects that are successful to all parties involved,” explained Zahner, who has more than 20 years experience in the construction industry as both an owner representative and as a general contractor. Zahner formerly worked for GEO Group where he was responsible for all new construction and major renovations, as well as facility maintenance of more than 100 correctional facilities. Prior to that Zahner was a vice president of JE Dunn Construction Company where he successfully completed more than 20 correctional facilities.
Hans Hansen holds more than 14 years in the general contracting industry, with a focus on correctional institutions. He was most recently employed with Lydig Construction and served as the project manager on the $55 million South Correctional Entity (SCORE) Jail, in which seven cities pooled its money to build a multi-jurisdictional institution in Des Moines, Wash.
As of press time, Zahner Hansen Construction is in negotiations for two correctional projects.
