Joseph Bishop
Joseph Bishop has been appointed as director of the Office of Investigations and Compliance (OIC) at the Tennessee Department of Corrections. A 32-year veteran of law enforcement, Bishop has been the chief of the Columbia, Tenn., Police Department since 2008. As the head of the OIC, he is responsible for overseeing the department’s law enforcement, special operations, and compliance units, as well as S.W.A.T teams throughout the state. Bishop spent 27 years in the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, where he rose to the rank of deputy chief. He also served as a military police officer in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in public service management from Cumberland University.
