Kenneth Royster
Kenneth Royster, a long time Division of Prisons veteran, has been named acting warden at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women. Royster will replace Bianca Harris, who will become regional manager of alcohol and chemical dependency programs for the state’s Department of Public Safety. Prior to his most recent appointment, Royster served for seven years in the U.S. Army and began his justice career as a correctional officer in 1988. Two years later he was named lead officer at the Division of Prison’s North Central Area Diagnostic Center, and shortly after was promoted to sergeant at the Triangle Correctional Center. He also served as sergeant at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for women, and was later promoted to lieutenant and captain of that facility. He has also been the superintendent of both the Raleigh Correctional Center for Women and the Wake Correctional Center.
