Construction on a major expansion at Montana State Prison is progressing, with one of three new housing buildings taking shape at the facility outside Deer Lodge.
On Aug. 26, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte and Department of Corrections Director Brian Gootkin toured the Riverside Correctional Facility, which had been renovated and repurposed to accommodate 50 female inmates who had been held at the overcrowded Montana Women’s Prison in Billings earlier this year.
