Perimeter Detection System
AFL introduces Fiber Security, a fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection system. Fiber Security applies vibration analysis algorithms to both 1510 nm and 1310 nm wavelengths to provide point detection of intrusion attempts. A single vibration-sensing unit with one continuous run of fiber optic cable offers detection capability for perimeters up to 5 km, according to the company. The system comes with 100 dry contact closures and an IP interface which can be used to automatically direct PTZ cameras to specific zones, turn on DVR’s and alert security personnel simultaneously. Algorithms automatically adjust thresholds for changes in environmental conditions and effectively discriminate between real intrusions and ambient vibrations, minimizing false and nuisance alarms. Without required maintenance after installation, the system is not temperature sensitive and doesn’t need to be routinely calibrated, according to the company. Solutions for solid walls, palisades fencing and buried sensors are available.
