Race Riots Cripple Los Angeles Facilities

LOS ANGELES — Racial fighting involving more than 1,000 inmates in Los Angeles County has resulted in one inmate death, 28 hospitalizations and 90 injuries. The fighting between black and Latino inmates erupted Saturday and continued Wednesday.


Most of the confrontations occurred at Pitchess Detention Center in the northern part of the county, although about 40 inmates were involved in an altercation at the Men’s Correctional Center in downtown, reports the Los Angeles Times. Mexican Mafia gang leaders authorized the attacks on blacks after one of their associates was attacked by a black gang member, according to investigators. Read more, HERE.
