Design Firm of the Year

The Design Firm of the Year Award recognizes an architecture or engineering firm that exemplifies excellence, leadership and sustained impact in the design of corrections and justice facilities. 

Eligibility 

Eligible firms must have a demonstrated portfolio of corrections-related work completed, underway or in design within the past five years and a proven commitment to advancing the built environment for justice facilities. 

Selection Process 

Nominees will be evaluated according to the following criteria: 

  • Design Excellence and Technical Rigor: Consistent delivery of high-quality, contextually responsive designs that meet complex operational, security and programmatic requirements 
  • Innovation in Justice Design: Leadership in advancing evidence-based design, behavioral health considerations, staff safety, rehabilitation-focused environments and emerging technologies 
  • Client Partnership and Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to build trust with owners, operators and stakeholders, resulting in successful project outcomes 
  • Industry Leadership and Influence: Contributions to advancing the profession through research, publications, speaking engagements and participation in industry organizations 
  • Portfolio Impact: Breadth, consistency and measurable success of corrections-focused projects across multiple scales and jurisdictions 

How to Nominate 

Correctional News welcomes nominations from peers, colleagues and industry professionals. 

To nominate, please complete the nomination form when the voting period opens, including detailed justification and supporting materials such as project descriptions, performance data or professional accomplishments. Multiple nominations for the same candidate are accepted. Anonymous submissions will not be considered.
