New Device Tests Bolt Strength
Montgomery, Ala. – Norment Security Group, of Montgomery, Ala., has developed a side-load tester to gauge the strength of secured doors at correctional facilities. The device, the first of its kind on the market, was developed specifically for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and will be sold through Norment’s Airteq Division Security Products.
The tester supplies a 150-pound load to the bolt of the door it is tested on, which mimics the result of a 300-pound load at the center of the door. The side-load tester is compact, portable and lightweight. It is equipped with a 5-gallon air tank and airline, which hold enough air to test about 125 locks.
