Phillips Swager Merges with Dewberry
FAIRFAX, Va. – The architecture firm of Dewberry recently announced an agreement of merger terms with Phillips Swager Associates (PSA), one of the top justice architecture firms in the United States.
A letter of intent was recently signed by executives at both firms. “If all goes smoothly, we hope to have this transaction and integration complete by Jan. 1, 2005,” says John P. Fowler II, Dewberry’s CEO.
Dewberry is based in Fairfax, Va., and PSA has headquarters in Peoria, Ill., where the merged PSA/Dewberry will be based. PSA also currently has offices in Chicago, Naperville, Ill., Dallas, and McLean, Va.
PSA is ranked at #15 on the ENR list of top designers of correctional facilities. The firm's justice architecture projects include the U.S. Courthouse in Rockford, Ill.; the Stateville Reception and Classification Center in Illinois; and the New Castle Correctional Facility in Indiana.
Dewberry has 27 offices in 12 states. The firm has an extensive track record in public safety facilities and health care, but less experience designing correctional facilities.
“The collaborative efforts of our two firms will give us both a larger platform to win new clients and provide expanded services,” says Ron Budzinski, president of PSA.
