Rodney Ballard
Rodney Ballard was recently nominated as Director of the Division of Community Corrections. With 30 years of experience in law enforcement and corrections, Ballard currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Corrections. There, he has oversight of probation and parole and inspections of county jails statewide.
Ballard began his career in 1982 as a police officer, first in Northern Kentucky, and then with the Kentucky State Police. In 1999 Ballard became the Major and Commander of Internal Affairs and Training at the Kenton County Detention Center. Soon afterward, he was promoted to Chief Deputy at the facility, a position in which he oversaw the facility’s $1.5 million renovation. He was second in command at the detention center. A graduate of Northern Kentucky University, Ballard holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
