Bryan P. Stirling
Bryan P. Stirling will serve as the permanent director of the South Carolina Department of Correction following his Senate confirmation on Feb. 19. Stirling has served as acting director since October 2013. He will now be responsible for a staff of nearly 5,700 employees across 26 penal institutions. Before joining the SCDC, Stirling served as chief of staff for Governor Nikki Haley, prior to which he was a deputy attorney general from the state from 2006 to 2012. Stirling has also worked in two private law firms, and received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1996. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the school in 1991.
