John Baxter
The Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) has recently appointed Dr. John Baxter as vice president of health services for the company. Baxter was previously the director of mental health services for CCA; his new position began June 8. His responsibilities entail overseeing inmate medical, mental health and dental care services, managing pharmaceuticals, and overseeing off-site specialty care and hospitalization for more than 52,000 inmates. Baxter’s experience prior to CCA includes 24 years of service for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in a variety of roles. Baxter is a member of the American Correctional Association and the American Psychological Association. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a doctoral degree in human development counseling and earned a master’s degree from Harding Graduate School of Religion.
