Several Large Projects Utilize Oldcastle Precast Modular Cells
TELFORD, Pa. — Oldcastle Precast Modular group was selected to provide precast modular concrete cells for three large correctional facility construction projects.
Oldcastle was awarded the contract to manufacture and erect 1,032 cells at a new six-building facility operated by Corrections Corporation of American in Eloy, Ariz. The Saguaro Correctional Facility will add 1,896 beds to CCA’s complex in Eloy. The cells will be manufactured and fully outfitted with windows, furniture, light fixtures and paint at a plant in Chandler, Ariz., before they are shipped to the construction site.
CCA is also working with Oldcastle in Citrus County, Fla., where a 360-bed addition is being built at the jail in Lecanto, Fla. The facility will be outfitted with 180 precast cells and six precast shower modules manufactured by Oldcastle. The new $18.5 million, detached two-story housing unit will house U.S. Marshals Service inmates until the space is needed for county inmates. The addition will also include a partially covered outdoor recreation area and a detached medical building.
Moss & Associates of Florida is serving as general contractor and DLR Group of Nebraska is serving as architect of record for both projects.
A new detention center in Hall County, Ga., will also use Oldcastle cells. Two, six-story housing units will be erected with four-bed dormitory-style cells manufactured by Oldcastle. The 230,000-square-foot facility will have a total of 1,066 beds located on 50 acres. It is expected to cost $54 million to build.
Oldcastle operates more than 70 manufacturing plants nationwide.
