Addition at Chesco to Ease Overcrowded Conditions

West Chester, Pa. — The new addition to the Chester County Prison is expected to ease overcrowded conditions that have been plaguing the prison for more than six years.

The $38 million project budget is expected to cover the cost of the 512-bed addition and renovations to the existing complex. Construction of the 135,000-square-foot addition will begin once the occupancy permit and township approval have been issued, according to officials.
