Dan Ryan

Dan Ryan is the project director for PACIFIC Project, which provides training and technical assistance to over 35 tribes that have received planning grants from the Department of Justice to improve their tribal criminal justice systems. Ryan presently works at Justice Solutions Group. Named after and bestowed upon Ryan, the Daniel B. Ryan Award for excellence in federal pretrial services recognizes his contribution to the judicial system. With eight years of working experience in the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, Ryan became Chief of the Operations Branch of the Office of Probation and Pretrial Services. His responsibilities included developing national policy to apply the provisions of the Federal Pretrial Services Act of 1982 and the Federal Bail Reform Act of 1984. Additionally, Ryan designed and applied the pilot drug-testing program in eight federal district courts and served as inaugural Chief for the pilot pretrial services agency in the Eastern District of Brooklyn, New York. A former Guggenheim Fellow in Criminal Justice at Yale Law School, Ryan holds a Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar and was recognized by the National Association of Pretrial Services Agency as a recipient of the Oliati award.
