Colette Peters
Colette S. Peters is now the new director of the Oregon’s State Corrections Department. Peters, the first woman to lead the Corrections Department, took charge of the Youth Authority after it had been rattled by the state’s budget fortunes. Her career experiences included serving as a juvenile counselor, a legislative analyst and a prison inspector general.
Peters previously worked as a victim’s advocate for the Denver Police Department and a director for the Oregon Youth Authority. A graduate of the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., Peters earned her psychology degree and received her masters from the University of Colorado.
